Solution: |
1. S*2e +Px2e 2. B-2c+ Gx2c 3. +B-3d Gx3d 4. R-2a+ K-1c
5. +R-2c mate (9 moves) |
Variations:
- 1... K1c 2 +B3e! K2b 3 +R2a mate
- 1... N2e 2 S2c+ G2c 3 B2c+ K2c 4 R2a+ K1c 5 +R2b! mate (koma-amari)
- 3... K3d 4 R4d+ mate
Yozume (discovered by Michael Facer):
- 1 S1c K1c 2 S2c+ G2c 3 B2c+ K2c 4 R2a+ L2b 5 G3d K1c 6 +B3e and
take twice on 2d to give mate (15 moves, koma-amari).
This is an unfortunate flaw in the problem,
and Michael gets full credit for finding it.
