From: Dick Iwakura HK NTTDATA NET> Date: 12 jun 1996 Subject: LECTURE NO.4 - SWITCHING ROOK (FROM HABU'S BRAIN) SHOGI LECTURE FOR THE BEGINNERS =============================== LECTURE NO.4 -- SWITCHING ROOK First of all, I must express appreciation to Reijer who gave such detailed information of Meijin Match No.5. If I were Moriuchi, I believe that event I would not loose this game, even against Habu san. But actual game with Byoyomi was completely different and did not show Moriuchi to be weak. It is a fact that Habu is much more stronger than any other player $B#s (J now. We can not call it "Habu Magic" though. It is his true ability for the edge of the game which is displayed each time. (Gyakuten Game! - Reijer, how could we say this in English?). I believe also next Kisei-Sen at 3-1 with Miura 5 Dan. How is everybody? This is Dick Iwakura of the Hong Kong Shogi Club and let's start the No. Lesson #4( Lecture of Switching Rook.) Please review the last one again. The last one was Hineri-Bisha play between Kyu class and Shodan class amateurs. Let's see Habu san's style together in this lecture ! Sente Gote (Habu san) (famous pro.) Black White ---------- ------------- ----- ------ 26 Fu 84 Fu P-2f P-8d 25 Fu 85 Fu P-2e P-8e 78 Kin 32 Kin G-7h G-3b 24 Fu Do Fu P-2d Px2d Do Hi 23 Fu Rx2d P*2c 26 Hi 72 Gin R-2f S-7b The latest Hineri-Bisha Joseki should be moved as 72 Gin (S-7b) instead of 62 Gin (S-6b). This is Habu san's recommendation and if Sente (Black) moves 96 Fu (P-9f), there are too many variations from Gote's (White's) side. So Habu san decided to move 16 Fu (P-1f). Therefore.... (If you need to know why 96 Fu (P-9f) is not good for Habu san, please ask me and I'll answer you later since it has many variations of the movemnet if Sente plays 96 Fu.) 16 Fu 14 Fu P-1f P-1d (why not 34 Fu?) (why not P-3d? 38 Gin 64 Fu S-3h P-6d 76 Fu 86 Fu P-7f P-8f Do Fu Do Hi Px8f Rx8f 96 Fu 94 Fu P-9f P-9d 77 Kei 42 Gin N-7g S-4b 48 Gyoku 82 Hi K-4h R-8b 75 Fu 41 Gyoku P-7e K-4a 85 Fu 63 Gin P*8e S-6c 76 Hi 34 Fu R-7f P-3d 68 Gin 31 Gyoku S-6h K-3a 39 Gyoku 33 Kaku K-3i B-3c 66 Fu 22 Gyoku! I would like to answer you all individually and still have next weeks lesson done, and I am very sorry for doing it way but my time is really too limited to answer all of you step by step. Please kindly understand my difficulties. Perhaps I will ask somebody else to answer s part of your questions if there are too many for me. I'd really appreciate if Mr. Terao can help me about the answering of them. Thanks for your support of these lectures and I am very happy that many foreign people wish to understand our Shogi not only from the aspect of the game but also from traditional cultures. I also hope you will get accustomed with Japanese description of the movement to play with numerous Japanese Shogi Players in the coming better shogi server. Soredeha Ganbatte !
